BIOGRAPHY
Lisa Higby LeFevre was born in Iowa and lives in Sterling, Illinois. Lisa's work recently garnered
national attention with her March 2008, second place win at the National Association of Women
Artist's Gallery, "National Small Works Exhibition" in NYC. In October 2008, Jeffery Weschlser,
(curator for the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University), selected her work for the "Hot Art /
Cool Jazz" show at the National Association of Women Artists Gallery Silent Auction held at the
Alger House in Greenwich Village, NYC. In November 2008, she received an honorary induction
into the National Association of Women Artists organization the ceremony being held at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lisa, along with her husband, Bud LeFevre, and partner, Jim Brown,
own and operate, garden center, Distinctive Gardens, Inc., in Dixon, Illinois.
"Allusive Pursuit", created in 2008, is the seventh series from an ongoing body of work entitled,
"Interior Prairiescapes" began in 2004. Using memory as a basis in her work, she recaptures a
sensation of the Midwest landscape and is interested in developing a body of work that resonates
with the viewer. On January 4, 2009, Lisa was interviewed about this series on "Art Talks" with
Bruce Carter on Augustana Public Radio. Her interview can be heard online at www.wvik.org on
the Art Talks page. Three pieces from this series gained acceptance into the Richeson 75
