3rd SATURDAY IN SEPTEMBER
SEPTEMBER 18. 2010
5-10PM

BENEFITING SECOND SATURDAYS ART HAPPENINGS
Who will take the traveling chili award for 2010?  Pack those coolers, prep those taste buds, and get ready to
experience the most creative cook off in town.  Last year’s spectacles ranged from the Scarecrow Sisters
delights,  in costume Vampire chefs, offering mouth-watering, “Vampire Chili”, to the flip-flop footed, Wolfman,
who, in addition to his wonderful “Wolfman Chili” took it upon him self to lug in a grill, roast up some
scrumptious shish-ka-bob and saunter around feeding people.  Last year’s winner for Best Overall Chili was
Scott Seeley for his infamous “Swamp Rat” chili.  So, who will take the traveling chili award for 2010’s Fall Fest
Chili Cook Off best chili?  It’s a gool’s guess.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH
FALL FEST CHILI COOK OFF
BENEFITING SECOND SATURDAYS ART HAPPENINGS

A panel of judges will cast their vote for the big winner. The people will have their say with a vote for People’s Choice. Bring a
lawn chair and cooler and make an evening of it. This year’s cook-off is bigger and better than ever, featuring more bands, and
benefiting Second Saturdays Art Happenings.  For those of you who attended last year, Chili Tasting begins promptly at 5:00 pm,
and the Chili Awards are announced at 8:30 pm.  Get there at five or else the chili may be gone!

New this year, Chili Cook Off benefits Second Saturdays Art Happenings, a recently launched community art program that pairs
small businesses with our area artists.  All proceeds generated from the Cook Off will help to promote area artists participating in
Second Saturdays.  In March 2010, Second Saturdays kicked off its first season with an array of downtown Dixon small businesses
opening up shop to host the area’s finest artists, musicians, culinary experts, and more.  Second Saturdays is a monthly cultural
event in downtown Dixon organized by a core cooperative of local artists, Hope Greene, Rick Munson, John DeLong, Lisa Higby
LeFevre, and local businesses, The Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe, Trein’s Jewelry, JSalon, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Tangibles, and
Distinctive Gardens.  The goal is to enliven the downtown and get people out walking to see what’s going on in their cultural
community. If all area arts groups pull together, both artists and community benefit.

Minimum $3 donation gets you in for the night of chili tasting and great tunes.  It’s picnic style people.  Bring your own food and
beverages, as well as your blankets or chairs, and enjoy the music, the chili, and the atmosphere.
