STATEMENT

A love of nature has impacted my relationship with
people, places, and things.  The impact of a single
tree creates both memories and emotions in my
life.  A tree has deep roots, a sturdy center, and a
flourishing top.  The changes a tree experiences in
its life make it intriguing, strong, and beautiful.

The influence of weavers, painters, friends, and
family leads me to a place of reflection and
creation.  I begin by weaving a tree from copper.
The tree is then welded to stained glass.  The
copper is pliable and sturdy like the structure of a
tree.  The glass creates a natural background
painted with light.  Every piece is created to
describe a tree that has burned a picture in my
mind.  As in nature, no two trees are the same and
every tree changes when light shines through it.

My mosaic work comes from my love of gardening
and an environmental awareness that has taught
me to recycle and use each piece of scrap glass
that accumulates in my studio.
